Yarn Along...something done and something new

 The slippers are done...I think they came out rather cute.  They fit my feet snuggly so hopefully they will fit my son just right.  And since I finished this project, I was going to cast on for the next one (I have realized that we are in JUNE and I still don't have a single present in my Christmas/ Winter Solstice basket), but this, below, is the state of the yarn I dyed for a self-striping project after 2 hours of untangling on Monday night)...

 ...so instead I cast on a scarf for a community project.  See below if you would like to participate.

 

I received the following email from my local craft store...and I have enough yarn to make at least one scarf, hopefully two.  And they said I could add some sewn ones (they think) as well, so I will go through my stash and see what I can come up with.

Did you know that there are over 20,000 teens on the streets of Toronto? Bill Bowers does. He knows because he’s out there on the streets with them, giving scarves to teens in need of some comfort. Bill is retired from the Salvation Army, formerly of Petrolia. He goes out three nights a week, in his uniform for protection and a back pack and gives away knitted scarves to teenagers.

Please join Sarnia Craft Supply in knitting scarves for Bill to distribute. They need to be 4’long and 8”wide. What a great way to use up some of that leftover yarn! (from Sarnia Craft Supply)

If anyone is interested in participating, they are due in September.  They ask for the scarves to be dropped off at the craft store, but if you are in, say...Toronto or thereabouts already, I may be able to find out a better drop off location for you.  Leave a comment with a way for me to get back to you if you are interested and need more information.
